How to upgrade the Optimus Black P970 to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean via AOKP Jelly Bean (unofficial)

The LG Optimus Black P970 is a pretty good phone in terms of its simplistic aesthetics. However, the lack of updates for its Android OS has disappointed many of its users. There isn’t even an official Android 4.0 update for it. But, coming to its rescue is the most widely compatible custom ROM available, AOKP Jelly Bean, thanks to XDA Developers member chenleicpp.

Based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, it has the butter-smooth interface and trusted features, such as OpenVPN, support for downloadable themes, additional privacy tools, and more. Since this is an unofficial ROM, there are a couple of problems with the camera and audio, but the rest of the phone’s capabilities should be fine. It is also important to mention that AOKP Jelly Bean has a pretty solid community backing it, so it’s not hard to find solutions or support for the ROM’s issues and problems.

This guide shows you how to upgrade the Optimus Black P970 to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean via AOKP Jelly Bean (unofficial).
